Historic Downtown Littleton

Posted by on July 17, 2011

I am proud to be a business owner in Historic Downtown Littleton.

As August rolls around, I am reminded of how a strong sense of community can help bring such great perspective to an otherwise stressed-out existence.  The simplicity of a street fair, a parade, a pancake breakfast, and a used-book sale, helps to remind me that there is great comfort in the strength of community.

Western Welcome Week is an annual community celebration that began back in the late 1920s and has been held every year since then.  The goal of Western Welcome Week is to nurture the community spirit, by bringing together residents and businesses for a week of festivities and entertainment for families, neighbors and friends.

How perfectly simple.  Family, friends and neighbors coming together in support of our community.

Thank you, Littleton.

I am proud to announce the launch of our brand new Teen & Pre-Teen Party Package. The is a fantastic choice for this year’s birthday party! It also makes a great gift for graduation.

The package includes (1) 30 min spa service for each of your guests. Guests choose from: Muscle Melt Massage, Chocolate Sugar Scrub, Chocolate Facial, or Make-up lesson/application. The chocolate choices are very popular! I personally LOVE the Chocolate Facial.

Your guests will enjoy private spa time to relax in our lounge, read magazines, catch up with their friends, and enjoy your party.  The spa is closed to other guests during this time, so you are welcome to move throughout the spa without the worry of disturbing others.

Buy Local Week 2010

Posted by on November 26, 2010

As mentioned in my previous post, shopping local is one of the easiest, quickest ways to help grow our local economies.  Where you spend your dollars makes a big difference to our economic growth.

The Mile High Business Association is sponsoring the 4th annual Buy Local Week Campaign, from November 26 to December 2, 2010.  It is a great opportunity to connect with locally owned businesses and show your support.  As a small business owner, your participation is greatly appreciated.

This year’s campaign includes a Buy Local Bingo Game.  Purchases made at participating local businesses will quaify you to win gift certificates from local retailers AND some really great grand prizes including a grill from Ace Hardware, skis from Edgeworks and a 50″ TV from Listen Up!

Pick up a Holiday Shopping guide at local merchants throughout historic Downtown Littleton.  Make your purchases and get the local merchant to mark your bingo card.  Turn in your bingo card by December 31, 2010, and be entered to win.  It’s that simple.

When you buy local, we All win.  Thank you for your support, and enjoy a wonderful holiday shopping season.

How to get out of the recession

Posted by on November 18, 2010

Today I begin a two-part series titled “How to Get Out of The Recession”. Some simple ideas that may help us escape this everlasting economic downturn. Just some simple observations from a business owner on Main Street.

One of my favorite times of the day is early morning before anyone else has arrived.  I grab a coffee from across the street, turn on the  spa music and listen to the soothing wall of water.  Soon, Main Street comes to life.  Traffic backs up, store owners turn on their OPEN signs and our day begins.

It is this absolute sense of community that inspires me to stay positive during this period of economic challenge.  The good old-fashioned ‘help your neighbor’ mentality is alive and well on Main Street.   We help each other, which in turn helps “The Street”, which in turn helps our local economy.  Together we can be strong.

Did you know that last year Coloradans spent $12.7 billion during the holidays?  And remember last year?  We all spent less than previous years because of economic concerns.  A shift of just 10% of this annual holiday spend toward local retailers could translate into a $3 billion dollar boost to our State’s economy in just TWO MONTHS. I don’t know about you, but that feels like a pretty good return on investment!  Money spent local stays local.  It recirculates at least three times in our local communities. By choosing to spend local, you are making a powerful decision to positively impact the economic well being of our community.

We help each other, which in turn helps “The Street”, which in turn helps our local economy.  Together we can be strong.

Watch for more details on the Colorado Local First campaign.   This is a GREAT holiday campaign that rewards you for your participation in buying local.   Ciao Bella Day Spa is proud to participate in this great local program.  Watch our website, as we will be posting special offers during this Shop Local campaign.  Thank you for your support and friendship.  We are proud to part of this great community. Dog Days of Summer

Posted by on July 15, 2010

Here we are nearly half way through the summer of 2010. How does time go so quickly? I remember being a kid and loving the dog days of summer. When I was a teenager, we lived just one block off Lake Michigan which meant we had many long days of sand and sun. I remember very clearly wanting to hurry to the beach during those now-dreaded ‘peak hours’ of sunshine from 12 to 3 pm. Anything before or after that time was not of interest to us because the sun wasn’t ‘hot enough’. We rarely used sunscreen and more times than not, opted for the baby oil to be sure we were getting properly ‘toasted’.

OMG. How did we ever survive?

Now, we worry about every hour we’re in the sun at any time of the day. We worry about sunburn, skin cancer, freckles, blisters, dehydration, etc. etc. Has the world changed that much? Has the sun really gotten so much hotter? OR have we changed? Have we gone from carefree and worry-less to overly cautious and even panicked? I absolutely agree that the sun’s rays are not always good for us. I absolutely agree that sunscreen is an essential part of our summer regime. But, I’m just wondering if maybe we’ve forgotten how to have spontaneous, belly-laugh, throw sand at your friends kinda of fun? Maybe we have gotten too serious, too worried. I don’t know…. I’m just wonderin’.

I hope you enjoy a spectacular summer. Be spontaneous. Go make a memory!! Enjoy.
